Values are created by referencing mainstream medias coverage of violent deaths in each country, set against actual violent deaths occurring in each country. An algorithm determines the indexed value by computing actual media coverage (in minutes), against actual violent deaths, taken from officially recorded, annual statistics. Population numbers also form a part of the algorithmic computations.
